Can't help it. There are still today soot marks along the vents on
the ceiling of the auditorium in the L.A. Building where the kilns
were located up to 1980. In 1975 I inherited a kiln room with soot so
heavy it was pitch black in there and on into the pottery room. Soot
is just inefficient burning of fuel.
