I have some of this stuff that I bought an eon or so ago. Now I want to use it and I've forgotton how to mix it. I assume that I use water but in what proportions.....
I intend to use it to make oxides flow better on clay or raw glaze..
Thanks

Hi Bob and all,
Here are two posts from my archives on gum that seem to say it all.

I find this the best way to do it, you only need to plan ahead. Just one
warning, when you close that jar and shake it, the pressure will
increase! So, shake a little, open a little and let the air out,
repeat. I have had plastic containers with pop-on lids pop off and send
CMC everywhere..... the ceiling, the walls, the rug!!!!!
Dear Barbara
I put it in hot water and then put that in the microwave oven for about a
minute. You might need to let it cool before you use it, though.
Hope this helps.

Hi Bob,
To a dry glaze, add aboutd 1%- and then sieve the glaze. To add to existing
glaze batches premix the cmc with water and use a blender to mix it and then
sieve it. It will be thicker than you expect so add more water until you
get it right. Mix it as thickly as possible so you don't have to add too
much water to the glaze. It will make the dry glaze stronger and will
prevent crawling. It is a must for me for single fired glazes - I find it
to be better than bentonite.
