Hey...

I have a dead wheel in the corner of the studio that I've been putting off
repairing since it died...too many things going on and, since its not my
main wheel, it wasnt an up there on the priority list. Now its time.

I was wondering if anybody happened to have some spec/technical info or sage
advice re the motor on Creative Industries wheels. The motor on the one here
is toast.
If I want to buy a motor from somewhere other than Creative Industries, what
should I be looking for?

Before anyone tells me to call the company, I've already pursued that
route..fruitless and they are reluctant to share any info (*especially* the
name of the manufacturer) as they seem to only want me to buy a replacement
motor from them, at a hefty price.

I'm just exploring my options in hopes of being able to afford to get this
puppy operational.

You can email me on or off list...
THANKS!

Anne

Anne,
Before you buy anything, go to Radio Shack and get a bridge rectifier. It
changes ac to dc. Wire it to a plug where the ac is marked and hook the two
motor wires where the dc is marked. Plug it in. If the motor runs, the
problem is the controller. It is very rare for a pm dc motor to be toast.
Only a long stall condition ruins these things.
The trouble shooting order is:
1. Live circuit check
2. Fuse check
3. Faulty cord or plug check
4. Wheel turns freely by hand check
Only after all of these are checked do I start looking at the electronics
package. Sometimes it is a failed solder joint causing a loose wire. One
Brent I fixed had a faulty fuse holder that cost $3.00 to replace.
You get the picture. Look at all the simple reasons the wheel won't run
first.
If it is the motor, order one from
