Wow simply wow, I thought I had a bad weekend but.....
I am sorry! That sucks, I guess on the bright, oh wait
there is not one!Wow Sorry. Maybe a lil story from my
weekend might make you chuckle a little.
Ok I went to Newport, TN Fall festival this past
weekend. Now I was really looking forward to it
because I lived there from ages 0-14 so it was like
going back in time for me.
Well to start time hasn't been kind there. to give you
an idea of the economic status of Newport. It is
located in the foot hills of Cocke county and is
problaly the poorest county in east tn. But it is
really close to Gatlinburg and the Appalaician crafts
area.
Shortly after seting up at this street fest. I was
tripped over by a drunk elderly gentleman, who spilled
his drink on me, smiled mentioned somthing about
killing me (wasn't sure about this his speech was very
slurd), And then he walked off. Ok that was odd
enough. so the day drug on slowly very slowly. It
seemed that there was amazingly large amounts of
traffic, but no one so much as dared step into my
booth, save the occasional local who would take on
look at my ten dollar mugs (the cheapest thing I have)
and then give me the ole' "I could get that at walmart
for 50 cents" LOOK.
So I elected to read. (the Hobbit is a very good book
for such events) And I read all day till a gentleman
approached my booth. It seems he felt I needed to Know
everything that anyone could ever know about peach pit
baskets......(yeah you got me too). The down part to
this(oh yes it goes downward) is that while he was
telling me all this his son decides my booth would
serve rather splendly as a waste bin and vomits in the
middle of my booth. The man notices this and says
something about the heat and then continues his peach
pit treatise. I then excused myself and went to get
something to CLEAN UP THE VOMIT!!! need less to say
the man apparently figure that I had learnt enough
about peach pits because no one was there when I got
back.
Then there is #3. who when an artistic disustion is
began he desides to tell me about his favarite
draaaring consisting of bart simpson smoking pot and
shooting up, The man does so while chuckling like what
I can only a jackass would if it could.
luckily sunday was a great deal better. It was as if
they had ran everyone who was there saturday off and
bussed in folks who where on vacation. Weird!
so for any looking at Newports Fall festival, my
advice is just go SUNDAY if you can!!!:)
