I can not find the address for the $600 teapot lady.
I wanted to check and see if my recollection was correct
I think she stated something like no tea pot worked correctly and that
she was
going to make one that did. I think she listed that they drip and the
lids fall out when you pour tea.
Strong statements, if my memory serves (I am in the second week of
school and I still have some "summer Brain" effects hanging around -
witness the lost web address).
Aanyway those tea pots remind me of the ones that I knew from
restaurants in Chinatown in San Francisco where I grew up. Simple
forms some with spouts that seem a little too small, but without
talking to the potter I am not sure what they were trying to achieve.
For me I will take a teapot from Yixing anyday. Some with the same
forms - but handbuilt! or the one I bought in Beijing for 100 yuan
that looks like a lotus seed pod with seed that rattle back and forth
with a frog on the leaf on top which is actually the lid. ($100 yuan
at 8.4 yuan to the dollar = $11.90) the seller thought she had taken me
to the cleaners and I thought I had the steal of a life time. The way
a good deal should be both parties happy!
On a related front, Alissa (sp?)your pots strong and web site are very
nice. I would love to encounter them some time, in person. Keep up
the good work and stay strong in your thoughts.
