pacifica wheel repair

I recently found a Pacifica Glyde Torc ( Mod 4514) (approximately 20-25 yrs old) wheel at a real cheap price, knowing that it had stopped working.

The controller seems to be burnt out (light glows but no motor action). I have checked with Laguna ( very nice conversation) but they do not have a schematic diagram of the controller, nor any way to repair the old controller, and could only suggest that I purchase a replacement controller w/ pedal for $215. The table and wheel head seems fine, but I know I must check out the motor to see if it runs.

If it does, my question comes back to repairing/replacing the controller.
Does anybody have any experience with tracing the electronics of the controller with a schematic? Does anybody have access to a schematic diagram of this controller? A good friend electrical engineer claims he can diagnose and repair if he has a schematic.

If all of the above repair questions receive a negative response, IYHO is it worth the investment to purchase a new controller?

Thanks for the responses.

I good electrical engineer can draw a schematic from the controller card. As
most controllers are very simple and small, working out the schematic is not
that hard, just takes a bit of time. It you need to pay for his time it
would be cheaper to buy a new one but if he is not busy or in a mood to
tinker maybe you can talk him into trying to fix it. My guess would be look
at the pedal first, moving parts break way more often then than chips. Then
check wires, fuses and then controller and motor last.

I have a 30 year old pacifica glyde torc. There is a stationary belt
that sits in the "v" of the flywheel. That belt has cracked and come
off. Does anyone know about replacing that belt, and if the wheel can
be used without it? It is approx. 10.75 in diameter (the diameter of
the flywheel) and the belt material itself is 1/4" diameter, clear,
like the other belts that go between the flywheel and motor.

thanks
