I used to live in Hawaii within several miles of the ocean. Anything made of
steel rusted quickly there. It was not uncommon to see cars covered with
rust holes. In the mornings, water dripped from fogged mirrors.
Cars left out in the open deteriorated quickly, cars kept in an open carport
lasted a lot longer, and cars in closed garages lasted the longest. The same
applies to kilns in humid areas. An enclosed room would be best for your
kiln, but even an open carport would beat a patio and tarp.
