Hello all;
I have to disconnect a kiln in the studio and move it elsewhere in the
room. There's no way an electrician would come and do something so
small. And I know I need to turn off the main switch from the fuse box
and I need a screw driver[!!??] Where can I get a diagram to show what
to do? I have The Electric Kiln book, but it doesn't show this
elementary step.
Thanks in advance

May, I suggest that you not disconnect the kiln yourself. Perhaps you can
find an friend with experience in electrical work to do it for you.

Hi May
I hope you have found someone to help you with this by now. My advice,
would be: switch on the light in the room; go to the fuse box and put the
main switch to OFF; go back and turn the kiln on to reassure yourself that
the power is really off, and off again once you are sure; disconnect the
kiln (watching out for the light coming back on which means some idiot has
turned the power back on before you were ready).
You don't say how the kiln is connected? Do you intend to reconnect it
yourself, and do you need to reattach wires to do this? If so take a
digital picture of the connection before you disassemble it, so you can see
that you have done it right. There are nice electricians in the world who
will have a look and tell you that something is OK, but you have to
cultivate useful people!
Good luck
Roly
