Dear William,
Without fractional sieve analyses and mineral analyses of each of the =
ingredients Jeff Zamek's recipe seems doomed to disaster. Ask Ron Roy =
and others. Getting a clay to be fully vitreous over a range of five =
cone intervals is almost impossible. If it perfect at ^ 6 it will slump =
at ^10. If it is perfect at ^10 it will weep at ^6
When any clay has sufficient water to achieve workable plasticity there =
is such a large volume of water that few of the clay particles would be =
in contact. Volumetric ratios are disregarded in the literature.
Best regards,
Ivor
