Hi:

Vee gum is best added by dry weight. There are about 500 grams of dry
weight per quart. This will vary with the density of the suspension but
500 grams is about average. So there would be about 2000 grams in a
gallon. Depending on the clay contenet of the glaze I would add from 1 to
3% of vee gum. If the clay is over 10% you might want to start with a 1%
addition which would be 20 grams.

If you are adding the vee gum to a glaze that's already mixed and hydrated
you will get better results if you blunge the vee gum in a small amount of
water and add this wet mix to your glaze.
