When I moved away and left my gas kiln falling apart in my back yard I had committed to cone 6 oxidation. The space I am working in now is long and narrow, so my new kiln couldn't sit as far away from the wall as it should when firing. So, I went to Home Depot and bought what is laughingly called a piano dolly. It's about 18" square, made of tough wood with 4 heavy duty swivel (sic) wheels. I cut a piece of plywood a bit bigger than the kiln stand and put 2 layers of 1" FibreFrax on top and set the kiln on the stand on the dolly. Now when I'm not firing, I roll the whole thing close to a wall. And when I fire, I move it out, load it and fire it. Been doing this for the last 9 months with no proplems.
