ED,

Hydrogen peroxide should not be cheap and I doubt that it lasts longer than
bleach...
I know somebody who always puts a very small amount of copper carbonate in
his glazes to fight bacteria. Copper is an anti-foaming and anti-bacterial
agent rather powerful.
Perhaps a very low dose of it does not modify too much ceramic products.
