Greetings! I am interested in a cone 9/10 "orange" glaze in oxidation. Not
bright but subtle. Not unlike a shino but a glaze formulated for
oxidation. Any ideas? Many thanks, Kate Daly

Dear Kate;
Have a look at Ian Currie's "Revealing Glazes" and look for Hank's
copper yellow. Orange only on porcelain @ 9/10 in oxidation. Very
thickness sensitive!
Best in a gas kiln, but I have not personally tried it in an
electric........ which usually fire in neutral conditions. You can see
it here: www.murrow.biz/hank/current-pots.htm
....... numbers 073, b002, b010, b015, and b021.

Kate,
Here's a quiet orange glaze that I used for several years at cone 8 oxidation. It would probably
work fine at cone 9. It is sort of a tawny-orange colour, more like a stoney matte than a shino. It
also looks good over a dark slip that has had some sgraffito.
