orange glazes, tawny-orange glaze

Here is a photo of the cone 8 oxidation orange glaze mentioned in an earlier post:

It uses iron with tin as the opacifier to make the orange.

As a follow-up to Mel's comment about iron and rutile making orange, here is a recipe that gives a
nice orange at cone 10R:

G-200 feldspar 48.9
whiting 17.8
EPK 14.6
rutile 8.9
zinc ox. 5.3
red iron ox. 4.5

To this I usually add an additional wood ash 15 to give it a more varied surface.

This seems to be an orange time of year with pumpkins and autumn leaves. Orange Mars also
made its closest approach to earth for the next 13 years this past weekend. Here's a photo from
