Hi Jock and welcome,
I hope your question doesn't get ignored. It is an interesting one, though
as it comes at the end of your post I fear it might be missed. It would
seem that your cracks are unlikely to be due to poor structure in the work,
or sudden cooling, you will have come across these things over the years, so
my guess is that you have an unexpected change in materials, so that your
glaze no longer fits your body sufficiently well, and you are getting
dunting?
There are people on the list who can really answer your question, but they
proabaly need to know more about your body and glaze and the shape of the
cracks. Is it possible that any of your glaze materials have changed
specification, or your water is different?
Good luck finding the answer
Roly
