old maxx wheel needs tune up.

Hello,

I have an old, 1973, MAXX wheel that may need a little tune up. I may be
getting a little picky with it, but it tends to be a little jerky at the
lowest speeds. The company wants around $500 for a new foot pedal and
control box and since it is my secondary wheel, I just can't justify the
expense. I wonder if a competitor's control box and pedal would work. Does
anyone have an idea?

I can't tell how to make a different control box work, though I believe
with enough determination and ingenuity, it could be done.

But wow!! 500 bucks for a pedal and box? Wow. I had in the past
considered upgrading to a Maxx, and every now and then it crosses my mind.
It was always hard to know since I've never seen one, just read their
advertising speal.

Of course on the other hand that the controls have apparently functioned
well since 1973 speaks volumes.

Hmmm.
