skutt kiln problem

I recently moved my Skutt KM1227 to a new location and set it up. Today
when I went to test fire, the internal temp read "76" and I proceeded to
check on my Ramp/Hold programs to make sure they were still there. All
seemed fine and so I started with a Cone Fire 5 fast to get it moving.
Still...fine. As I wanted to bisque, I stopped it, then went on to my
Ramp/Hold user program. All of a sudden it started doing crazy things. It
said "Cplt" (obviously wrong), then showed an internal temp of 35, which
proceeded to drop 34...33..., some of the lights seemed to be out so that
the "S" of "stop" was not complete, altho all the lights seemed to work
for "9999". I was thinking the thermocouple took a hit or something, but
with the other goofy display readouts, I am baffled. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much.

Hi Jane,

Since it is a Skutt product, why don't you just call them -PH: 503-774-6000
or e-mail info@skutt.com. Also, their website, www.skutt.com may have
specific instructions as to how to proceed in getting your problem solved.

Courage,

The problem with your controller may be due to a transformer. Have you
replaced the kiln's transformer recently? A 120-volt transformer on a
240-volt kiln can burn out some of the display digits.

Low voltage from the transformer can also prevent all the display digits
from lighting.

Since you just moved your kiln, the erratic temperature readout may be due
to the circuit wiring. If erratic readings appear only when the relays turn
on, your circuit may be poorly grounded. (When the relays turn on, you will
hear a click and the hum of elements.) The problem may be a damaged wall
receptacle.
