Hello All,

Thank you to all of the people who respond with wonderful words of
wisdom on ClayArt.

On December 2, I will be flying into Columbia, SC and staying in Sumter,
SC for the weekend. I would love to visit galleries and meet with some
ClayArt folks. I am willing to drive about a 2 hour radius in any
direction to see some interesting pottery. Anyone interested in sharing
with some great tips, on or offline please let me know.

Thank you again,

There aren't many potters in SC. Virgina Scotchie is probably the most well
know in Columbia. I think she teaches at USC. You may be able to contact
her for more information about potters in SC. There are a few in
Charleston.

Dale Duncan in York, but that is a good ways from Sumter.

Tim Graham from Camden, SC. I think he does have a some things at a shop in
Sumter.

I live up near the NC state line.

The place to go would be Seagrove NC which is about 180 miles from Sumter,
but it would be well worth the trip.

Right now I just do pottery part time. I am retiring from my job as a
Social Worker next week and hope to get into it full time in the next few
months.

Here is a web site that lists the potters in NC and SC.

Look up the ceramic faculty at Clemson Univ. I want to
say Dave Vratasnik (sp?) and Denise Woodward? But I
could be wrong.
