What a relief to hear that a good method has been worked out for
shipping the kiln to Leland. Many thanks to Janna, Tom Wirt and
Martin Butt. I have never met Tom Wirt but have met and talked on
the telephone to Martin Butt and felt that he was a good likeable
man. The glazes that can be obtained from Coyote Clay and Color are
very nice too (I am just a satisfied customer). Those of you who use
commercial glazes might visit their website (www.CoyoteClay.com) to
see the wide choice available - or visit their booth at NCECA, if you
are going, to see the glazes in their "natural" state. When I have
phoned Coyote Clay with questions they have always provided friendly,
competent service, wether Martin himself or one of his staff answered
the phone. You get the impression that when they're not working his
employees are having a great time trying things out for themselves in
the studio and, so, can answer from personal experience.

Dear Clayarters, I know I said I wouldn't say another word but I have
decided to let the group know the final details of the moving of the kiln.
I have never shipped anything as large as a kiln before, and I was
beginning to think that I would never be able to pull this off. I can't
even lift the lid by myself. But Great Spirit whispered in Martin Butt's
ear, "Janna is screwing this all up, you better step in and help her." So
he did. Martin Butt of Coyote Clay and Color here in Albuquerque, New
Mexico (who has beautiful glazes by the way, usual disclaimer) has offered
to pack the kiln in new packing materials and ship it via Georgie's to
Portland. Tom Wirt of Clay Coyote has generously stepped in to pay
shipping fees to Portland. My small part is to get the kiln from my
living room to Coyote Clay and Color on Edith Blvd. so Martin can "wrap it
up"! And there you have it. The Saga is complete. Well, almost. When
Leland has it in his hands, the saga will be complete.
To all of you wonderful fellow artists who have already sent donations, I
will return your check ASAP. Thank you thank you thank you, for your
generosity.
Sincerely, Janna Marcilla
