what my point is:

crazing is a flaw in production of ceramics.

it can be used for visual effect.
but, anyone can make the same glaze..celedon, whatever
and it would be perfection without the craze. this is what
ron roy has argued for years....and he knows glaze.
he has worked this list til his hands are raw.

it is not that anyone cannot use crazing. make what you want.
it will never be as strong, last as long as a craze free piece.
that is fact. a well matched clay and glazed pot is much stronger.
but, crazing is a mismatch of clay and glaze.
simple as that.
we should be able to make glazes that do not
craze.
i just support ron on this. i have no opinion on those
that want crazing. i try to avoid it.

it is like working with students.
`hey wally, that pot has a crack, and it will only grow`.

`yes mel, i know...but i like cracks in my work.`

i say....`you don't know enough to make that sort of judgement.`

most customers do not know clay from glaze...if you tell them
that crazing is a wonderful asset, make it look cool...they will
believe you.
potters won't. they know.
that is my point.
mel
as louis has just pointed out, some of it even smells bad.
he is also someone that knows glaze.
