buying my first kiln

I forgot to mention that I will be using it to make sinks with. I am
in a unique spot to provide sinks to my bosses customers. I am
looking to create some designs that go with the granite and marble
counters they are purchasing. I am looking to add some value to my
pockets instead of my bosses. My boss and I have worked out an
agreement that I can show some sinks in the showroom, but have to
conduct sales outside of work. No problem. These counters are going
into expensive houses, so why not make some artsy sink displays! I
know you can buy them, but if I give the customer some input in the
creation of their sink, I should be able to get top dollar.

Well, I am going to take the plunge and buy my first kiln. I am
looking at a Skutt 1027 240v w/digital controller. I have seen
pictures of the kiln and it looks in great shape. It was purchased
new in 2004 and warrenty till march 2006. They only wanted
$1000. It was used about 5-6 times and looks showroom new from the
pictures. The artist became disabled and could no longer use the kiln.

What do you all think?

Brian,
I remember firing a 1027 twenty years ago when I was in college. It =
produced a great deal of consistent work. We only had dials...no fancy =
digital controller (geez, I am starting to sound like Mel!!!) It sounds =
like a great deal. Where is it located? (snicker...snicker)) I could buy =
it, put it MY studio, and let you come and visit it when you felt =
lonely!!!=20
