i have heard, and do believe
that the western world is in the
longest art period in the history
of the world.
almost 60 years now of post modernism, non/objective/verbal
art.
it is time to tip it over a large canyon.
let it wash into the sea....(but it would pollute.)
it may be better to store it with nuclear waste.
it is more than time to move away from
the warhol's of the world.
media art, talking art, written word art.
run naked art. `see me, see me, see what i can do` art.
it had its place for about 15 years. then it was dead.
time to move on. but the dead keeps rising again...talk about
it, revere it...
that is why i make pots.
put soup in them.
never be embarrassed if they are lovely to look at
while sipping soup.
and, most major museums don't give a damn about us, crafts people.
that is good. i know i don't give a damn about many
museum curators.

Two of my favorite museums (The Indianapolis Museum of Art and the I.M.
Pei Indiana University Museum of Art) have whole floors filled with
pottery which gets a lot of credit as art. The same museums have
wonderful collections of post war art. Just because a few artists are
questionable should not mark the rest for summery dismissal. Let's don't
tip Chuck Close or Alfred Leslie into the canyon with the nuclear waste
just yet.
All Jazz music is not Ornette Coleman or The Chicago Art Ensemble. Don't
give up on Modern Art! A lot of it is wonderful, mystical and resonates
with our gift to ourselves. Isn't that what art is all about, a gift to
ourselves?
The I.U. Website has a fantastic online collection or 120 of their best
examples from the collection of 45,000 works they curate.

possible does it, but we do work hard at it.) and student of Richard

This link to the Art Sinsabaugh photo exhibit at I.U. is well worth a
click too, panorama supremacy.
