I need to relocate my kiln to a spot about that is 2 feet longer than the
cord will reach to the plug. What would be the best way to do this?
Should I have the electrician direct wire it? Or is there something
else I should be aware of.

The easiest way to solve your problem is to place your kiln on a heavy-duty
stand with casters. Move the kiln closer to the wall outlet when you fire
the kiln.
Or you could have the electrician remove the cord and direct-wire the kiln
using flexible conduit.
I would ask your electrician for ideas too.

Always a good idea to direct wire, but if you're going to use the
plug/socket, have the outlet moved closer, do not mess with the cord/plug
that the manufacturer has installed.
