Hi Brad,

I have used Floating Blue and Randy's Red together very successfully on =
the same pot, and I usually fire to a hard cone 5, soft 6, with a fast =
cool. I have tried slow cooling Randy's Red in the past, and my results =
were a ka-ka khaki. Some tips re Randy's Red - it looks best on an iron =
bearing clay, and it needs to be relatively thick. A thin coat results =
in an ugly blackish brown. Also, the RIO I use to mix it comes from =
Ceramic Supply of NY and NJ and is called Red Iron Oxide Special. I =
have purchased Spanish RIO from other suppliers, and it results in a =
browner version of the glaze. =20

Regarding Randy's Red and Floating Blue--I did a lot of searching in the

the many posts I found on the subject is that I should fire to a "hard" =
cone
six, with a slow cool down. I had hoped to be able to fire Floating =
Blues
with iron red glazes, but I recall one post saying the that FB comes out =
"snot "
green. This seems to indicate that these two types of glazes cannot be =
