"It doesn't matter how supposedly great the talent or genius is when the talented genius is ultimately ruled by his or her addictions"

This is just plain wrong on so many levels.
But you just made any kind of work by any one with a dependancy worthless. How many Recovering addicts are on this list? Mother of the holly hippo, what are you doing? Hate to say it Randall, by every ones life is ruled by their addictions, mental, physical, chemical.
If Voulkus was an arse... then he was an arse. But your statment is truly way off base.
It reaks of some one completely ignorant and full of spite.
Imagine if people went around saying
" It doesn't matter how supposedly great Randall's talent or genius is when the Randall the talented genius is an ignorant bonker".
Watch out for that boulder perched above your glass house buddy.

calm down from the wheels that keep turning in many (true genius') minds is
no more or less than an excuse.

You misunderstood. I was not speaking of his work. I was speaking of the
willingness of many to dismiss or excuse away the overtly negative aspects
of certain people's lives by simply saying that they drank or did drugs
because they were "so creative" or was a "genius". It was not "full of
spite" as you say, and I am certainly not ignorant on the subject of dealin=
g
with people with drug and alcohol dependencies. Nice to see that the
reflexes in your knee are in good working order. As far as glass houses go,
I try not to hold anyone to a higher standard than I hold myself.
