Hiya;

Dinos Chapman's commentary to the article: Mental illness link to art
and sex.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/comment/story/0,,1654893,00.html

At the bottom is the link to the original article, with which EP had
posted a few weeks ago.

If you have time to spare, the culture vulture blog (bottom link) has
some very funny comments about creativity and sex.

It's Friday, time for some culture.

Best Wishes

Hello All,
For those who celebrate Christmas Merry Christmas, those who don't Happy Holidays.

I read the artical that was mentioned, and I must say that some artists, poets, and even "Rock" stars score sexually higher than just non-creative people. I must say that some way I agree. Think about it we as artists and the like have that certian umph that ALOT of non-creative types, we have the ability to turn the rendevous into a work of art be it a sculpture of the gorgeous he or she whichever it may be or even a wonderful piece of poetry and or song if you happen to be a musician/ lyricsist I must add that creative types have a certian type of presense. I have had my fair share of the ladies in my community it is a fact that I am pretty freakin' hot. I am a poet, and also a painter working on learning how to play guitar.

I have a certian umph that alot of the ladies love. I admitt when I started out it was a game I would go out to the clubs every weekend in Atlanta, GA I used my creative energy to earn the digits and the lady on many many ocassions every weekend a different woman. I love women, and lucky for me I found the one who just takes my breath and she is the one. I love her with every fiber in my being and I plan on spending a lifetime with her we have been together on and off for six years. Which is a long time in the gay and lesbian community.

I digress.... it is a fact that creative types have that certian something that have the charisma and quite alot of the so called "mojo" that it takes to obtain the so called man or woman or even both if that is what you dig, whichever you prefer. I think and feel that creative people are special in ALOT of degrees. I feel that we are special because we have the passion to light a fire in the persons heart and soul because of that passion. I believe that artists have fewer inhibitions than those who aren't creative.

We have the uncanny ability to let go and be just WILD you all know what I mean. Maybe it is that we, I maybe speaking for myself. I am a so called starving artist so maybe it could be that we write or do whatever we do to compensate for the fact that ALOT of us can't afford the expensive diamond rings and other things of expensive value. I do have quite a nice collection of CD's so I do make mixed CD's for my special lady. I don't think that we have mental illness' maybe some, but not ALL of us are mental.

Anyways, just wanted to give my two cents to the subject at hand. I hope to hear or at least read what you all have to say and think of what I had to say. I hope that you all have a joyous Holiday season and well since it is friday have a great weekend.

Laters,
Misty

Thank you May
not to discount real issues of mental illness, etc,
this had me falling off the chair laughing this morning
I also enjoyed the follow-up comments at the end of the Culture
Vulture article.
as well as Chapman's lead article, juxtaposed with the photos
a good dose of wit!
o Gad!
With all the boinking and drinking and debauching and preening and
admiring ourselves in the mirror
its amazing anything gets done at all!!!
And , Thank goodness we all live high off the hog on government
handouts! (o,sure)
we'd be a danger to society if the grant funds weren't keeping us
locked up in our homes and studios and off the streets....

humans, whaddawedowitus anyway!

The words 'illness' & 'sex' reveal the "agenda" [ahem] quite readily.

Let's review:

'Illness' is supposed to move us toward the Universal HealthCare debate. As
in, this growing number of poor mentally ill people need our "help" and
we've got to "throw money" at it [the "problem"]. Of course, we're talkin'
taxpayer dollars and "insurance" [Ahem, there's a "rigged game"].

And 'Sex' ... just in time for the release of "Brokeback Mountain".
[Coincidence ???]

Oh, those tricky Class warfare ways......

Best wishes,

Jim Murphy

Best wishes???? Obviously a clever attempt to shift the conversation
to Christmas shopping... you Capitalist bastard!

Or to the secularizing of a Christian holiday! You filthy heathen!

Or to the Christianization of the Winter Solstice! You fundamentalist zealot!

Regards (have you no regard for reason-based decency???),
Maurice
