I am convinced that a gallery opening or a coffee house
is a better model of Clayart. Bars are not friendly places
to a large group of people. I believe that frequent
mentions of the Pub made a lot of people feel left out.
As someone mentioned in the Voulkos discussion, it
is hard to find someone who's life has not been touched
by alcohol abuse, leaving them with a foul taste in their mouth
at the mention of it. I just can't drink, but I am sensitive to
the lives of the people I deal with here.
I think the analogy of a gallery opening is much more
inclusive, welcoming, and friendly. More folks will come.
There will be something else to talk about than the wine
and beer selection. Yes, Clayart is very much like a
rolling continuous gallery opening, kind of a gallery walk
where everyone here opens their studio from time to time.
Unfortunately for elitists, everyone is welcome here on
Clayart. There is no Judge, no jury to get in. People
will read your posts and decide whether they want to
read them again. But whether someone, even someone
who fancies themself important, reads your posts or
not means nothing. You may be crying into a silent
wilderness. No harm done. And it is good to say what
is on your mind. Odds are someone reads your posts,
but may not let you know. So post on! and welcome lurkers!
