hello,
for anyone interested, I will be conducting a 12 day salt kiln building workshop at penland school of crafts march 12-23 of 2006. The class will consist of morning lectures on various kiln topics ranging from materials, to design philosophy, and many other subjects, then we will work on the salt kiln in the afternoons. The kiln has been designed for heavy use in a school setting and is a good opprotunity to learn better ways to build a salt kiln. At the end of the class we will load and fire bisque ware brought by the class. While the kiln is cooling we will tour various kilns and studios in the immediate area. For more information you can contact Penland School of Crafts at 828-765-2359. This is a wonderful time to be in Mitchell County, North carolina and a good time to be at penland. This will be during the first weeks of the spring concentration. Housing is available thru the school.
