It's that time of year. Everybody's hustling and bustling. It's time to
do something just for yourself. Maybe someone will buy you a fabulous
workshop or set of classes for your holiday gift. Spread the
word......gifts from Creative Clay are wonderful. Gift certificates are
available too!!

Sorry folks, I've got a definite problem with this message. It is clearly a
purely commercial message....always banned from Clayart. If this is what we
want to do with the list, let her rip...but I don't think it is.

I know mel can't read every message that gets posted so it's up to us a
readers and participants to self enforce.

Gail, this message IMHO, is way, way out of line.|

Purely commercial messages are NOT always banned.
Reread the instructions. Offering things for sale and business
opportunities are fine as long as they are not spam and that
they only occur from long time to time.

It would be wrong if we got it every five or thirty days or so.

But it didn't.

It is the same as those 20-30 studio sales posts that I have
seen in the last 30 days.

People selling stuff that only potters would be interested in
are things I don't mind seeing from time to time.

Elizabeth,
Thanks to my wonderful gmail account, I can tell you that this workshop has
been advertised, using the term "Trapping Carbon and other Dirty Tricks:",
on Dec 2. Dec 6 and then this last message on Dec 16. So that's three in 1=
4
days, and therefore, by your rules, inappropriate.
I agree that workshop spam is better than home sale spam, but honestly
people, learn to make more than one mailing list and take clayart off your
weekly studio marketing email list.
I think Malcolm even emailed about his home show and then mentioned this
workshop, unless I'm hallucinating.

They ain't my rules!

But I defer to your facts anyhow. They are taking
advantage and should stop it.

I am surprised that mel let it pass, but then this would
be one that without your stats, it would take a computer
to cull out and alas, he is just a man....

You are right.

We have always had posts about workshops and the post I saw was a post for a
workshop at the Indianapolis Art Center. I was very glad to know about the
home sale because I went to it and would not have known about it otherwise.
Many others have posted about their sales. There are plenty of other "me
too" posts and posts that are clearly meant for one person that take up much
more space on Clayart than these posts that let all of us know about
happenings in our community. The post about the gift certificates etc was
out of line - you never see Axner or any other supplier doing this on
Clayart.
