Hey everybodies:

I continue to be surprised at the wealth of experiences fellow clayarters
have with the (other) 'greats' of clay. I am particularly susceptible to
hero worship even when I only know the name, but it is helpful to hear
from those who were there, wherever there was.

Our Pete threads have shown me another hole in my patchworked, self-
education in clay. I will do my own homework, don't you worry about that,
but I am betting that many of you could mention some great places where
Voulkos and his work were presented and put in context. Without traveling
to see that which is left of Voulkos here on this earth, I have only books
as pale substitution.

Where are significant collections of Voulkos work to be seen? When was
the last retrospective of his work? Have we a creditable biographer of
Voulkos? Just a few questions to encourage some objective information.

peace out y'all,

Taylor

Hi Taylor,

It may be a little far for you to travel but the American Museum of
Ceramic Art(AMOCA)in Pomona, CA currently (through 2/4/2006) has a show
featuring the work of Peter Voulkos. I haven't been to the Voulkos show yet
but I was impressed by the previous show at AMOCA. Additionally it appears
that they are scheduled to have a Don Reitz show after Voulkos (2/11/06 to
4/1/06). You can find a link to the AMOCA below.
