Oriental Glazes by Nigel Wood is an amazing book...and I am astounded =
that it is referred to but never on Clayart.
There are few copies available in the used book market... I just ordered =
myself a SECOND copy just en cas the malheur...and also ordered Michael =
Bailey's book on Oriental Glazes...

As to hare's fur--Wood has a bunch of interesting things to say....if =
you do not want to own, check PL...

I agree with Lili.

This book has a lot, and I mean A LOT, of fun
and interesting information in it and a few
mysteries as well.

It's not a recipie book, although there are a
few given at the end. Neither is it a chemistry
book, although there are lots of percentage
analyses given. I found the history and how
the chinese developed exquisite glazes from
native rocks very interesting.

Be forewarned, it will probably take more
than one reading to get the most out of it.
I'm on my second now.

And yes, it does give an explanation for hare's
fur and oil spot, which are slightly different
than what I've read before. And I didn't know
that the color of some iron glazes is a result
of a thin layer in the glaze just like copper reds.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
