Hi all,
I saw some of the posts during Christmas but I was to busy to answer but I
really wanted to
say something about this thread. Feb.2003 Ron Roy answered a post from Earl
Brunner about re working a floating blue recipe without gerstly borate.I saw
the e-mails somewhere in the middle In other words it is obvious from the
wording they had been going back and forth with their discussion. Any way, Ron
gave Earl a recipe asked him to test it and let him know how it was I figured a
lot of people would answer the call so I didn't bother to post my results I
never saw another word about it and that was that until now So here's my
results to this glaze that Ron called The Brunner/Roy version It is fantastic It
works in all of our kilns it works with all different cycles It mixes great
with many, many glazes It can go from a blue breaking brown when thin to a
rich I guess Caribbean blue where thick very rarely runs you have to put it on
really heavy for it to run It is used more than any glaze in the studio It has
little dark blue floating flecks on a lighter background It's just an all
around good glaze. Please don't waste your time going to our website there is a
problem with the gallery. There are no pics of it [although there should
have been instead of the old stuff that is still up there long story big
problem] We will be taking care of that very soon and I will let you all know when
there is a picture up.But in the meantime here's the recipe if anyone wants to
try it-
Frit 3278- 35.
Neph sye- 8.
Custer spar- 12.5
Dolomite-6.
Whiting- 2.
EPK- 26.
Silica-10.5
total-100.
Cobalt carb-2.
Red iron oxide-2.
Rutile-3.75 up to 4. it says do a line blend we use 3.75 works for us!

Cindy,

May I ask you where you buy Frit 3278? I've checked the Sheffield, Bailey
and Axner websites and none of them list it.

Jennifer --

Both Seattle Pottery Supply (Seattle, duh) and Clay Art Center (Tacoma)
carry it. I think it's pretty widely available.
