chopsticks on bowls

my friend, from Taiwan, thought that bowls like that were
clever. I noticed that whenever we ate "formal" she set
out chopsticks with chopstick holders. So maybe the
reason that you don't see this type of bowl in that culture
is because they already have something to serve that
purpose.

Chopstick holders are great for eating at the table, but
alot of Americans eat other places, like watching tv,
where a holder on the bowl would be very convenient.

(Not that we "ought" to eat watching tv, but we do anyhow)

I think that a deep bowl with holder dents would be great for
brush painting.

How about porcelain TV trays with a nice celadon. Wont need chopstick
holders. Might not even need a fork. Users would probably use their fingers
anyway. Perhaps a nice napkin holder to match.
