Etiquette of clayart.
do not get personal, keep subjects and ideas clear.
do not attack other persons with your political or religious beliefs.
try to the best of your ability to keep the topics to clay related themes.
very few folks want to hear about your personal life and saga.
do not use clayart as your personal email system. remember, this is
sent to over two thousand people each day. many are in foreign countries.
do not use local initials to describe places...like UNC.....what does that
mean
to someone from northern england? university of north cornwall?
if you see that seven other people have answered a question, do not
add yours to the list if it is the same information.
THE DELETE BUTTON IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. USE IT OFTEN.

we have 3,569 folks signed up for clayart.
175 of them are hidden from view. (private for reason)

************************************************************************

************* ALL CLAYART USERS *******************************
Listserv has a feature that will delete your account if mail cannot be
delivered to your account for 3 days or 200 messages have been returned.
*************************************************************************

************ ARCHIVE SEARCHES *******************************
Listserv allows you to EASILY and QUICKLY search the Clayart archives
just by sending out e-mail messages to the List Server. Your answers will
come back to you in the form of regular e-mail messages.

Messages that you send to the List Server cannot contain a subject line.
In the body of the message, you must not include a signature or ANY extra
text, no extra spaces, no extra blank lines.

For example, to search for all messages archived that contain the word
"wadding" send an email to LISTSRV@LSV.CERAMICS.ORG with this in the body
of the message:
SEARCH CLAYART wadding

The return message will have some of the messages attached with instructions to
get the rest by sending another command like the the following:

GETPOST CLAYART 88 133 143 170 293 6821 8468 8592 9300 11594 11609
11640 13667 13721 13744 18193 22199 22381 22416 22493 22509 22574-22575
22579 22673 22738 22799 24595 24869 25514 25598 27454 27512 27735 33384
34461 35621 42956 43051 43164 43260 43697 43724 43748 44037 44157 44180
44416 45563 45615 45693 45788 49811 52115 53244 55327 55428 55831 55917
59038 59181 59191 59319 59500 60198 63623 64610 64671 64955 65048 65217
65322 67416 68328 69339 70187 70196 70200 70224 70266 70634 70673 76975
77038 77070 77074 77152 78425 85642 88904 88954 90921 90944 92339 92359
92866 92900 92922 92952

The List Server is just a simple computer and only does what it is told. It
only
understands specific words. Because the message reference numbers wrapped
around several lines, I had to manually enter the words GETPOST CLAYART at
the beginning of EACH line, so the body of my message to the server actually
looked like this:

GETPOST CLAYART 88 133 143 170 293 6821 8468 8592 9300 11594 11609 11640
GETPOST CLAYART 13667 13721 13744 18193 22199 22381 22416 22493 22509
GETPOST CLAYART 22575 22579 22673 22738 22799 24595 24869 25514 25598
GETPOST CLAYART 27454 27512 27735 33384 34461 35621 42956 43051 43164
GETPOST CLAYART 44326 43697 43724 43748 44037 44157 44180 44416 45563
GETPOST CLAYART 45615 45693 45788 49811 52115 53244 55327 55428 55831
GETPOST CLAYART 55917 59038 59181 59191 59319 59500 60198 63623 64610
GETPOST CLAYART 64671 64955 65048 65217 65322 67416 68328 69339 70187
GETPOST CLAYART 70196 70200 70224 70266 70634 70673 76975 77038 77070
GETPOST CLAYART 77074 77152 78425 85642 88904 88954 90921 90944 92339
GETPOST CLAYART 92359 92866 92900 92922 92952

Also send it to: LISTSRV@LSV.CERAMICS.ORG

Another example, to get copies of all the glaze tests that somebody had
previously posted, send the request to LISTSRV@LSV.CERAMICS.ORG with
the following in the body (using the email address of that person):

SEARCH CLAYART glaze test WHERE SENDER CONTAINS somebody@email.com

To get more detailed instructions sent to you from the List Server, send an
e-mail to
LISTSRV@CERAMICS.ORG with NO subject line, and in the message body write
these two words only INFO REFCARD and/or HELP CLAYART.
