I gave "the best gift ever" to my husband this year.
He is always very stressed when the power goes out
due to storms. And finding the batteries is additional
stress.
I gave him a combo wind-up flashlight am/fm radio.
You wind the handle for 1-3 minutes and the device
works for an hour off the power it generates internally.
I think this technology is the best design work I have seen
in a couple of decades now. There is even a windup
computer.
