I was reminded of the importance of giving credit to those who originated a glaze when I received my Ceramics Monthly this week. Steven Hill made the cover and I eagerly read his article as I have enjoyed much of his work through the years and noticed no mention of Tom Coleman as the originator of the crystal matt glaze and other glazes Steven uses that came from Tom. I was, in fact, disappointed in Steven that he did not give Tom credit. I believe the least we can do when we use other people's glazes is give them credit--its a small concilation. This is nothing new and Mel and others have certainly covered it. I think it is simply a matter of respect.
