I bought a used Duncan Pro EA kiln with a soft, kiln fiber lid. The =
kiln works beautifully, but at each firing a little more of the fiber =
top burns off. I'm concerned that there won't be anything left after =
100 firings!
Do you know whether kiln wash or another substance can safely be painted =
on top of the fiber lid to maintain the integrity of the fiber through =
additional firings?

I don't know of anything that will preserve the ceramic fiber lid from
further deterioration. Duncan had problems with that fiber lid. It was
conceived as an energy-saving feature.
