Hello Brian -

I have participated in these sales for 5 years now. Here is my take:

Patsy and Ken are wonderful and the shows are very well organized.

Best of the 3 shows? Depends.

The Columbia Winery show can be really great. In addition to the indoor
display space, there is a lovely outdoor display area that works well if you
have garden ware/art. The population there is much the same as for the
Hollywood Schoolhouse show in November - different time of year makes for
different sorts of, and reasons for purchases.

The Pickering Barn in Issaquah (October) is usually a very good show. The
venue is great, and there continue to be lots of folks who show up because
they saw the signs on their way in to Costco.

The Hollywood Schoolhouse in Woodinville is always a good show. The venue
is lovely, albeit a tad more crowded (vendor wise) than Issaquah.

Their mailing lists are huge - many people will not ever miss one of these
shows.

The October and November shows also include a gallery space for one or two
of your very special and unique pieces - provide your own pedestal, etc.

If you are interested in any of these shows, I'd contact Ken and ask that he
send you applications and send them in right away. These shows are not
juried, and most of the work displayed is of very high quality.

Hope to see you at the winery.

Subject: Question for Washington State Potters

Hello fellow wet ones!

I was wondering if any of you have participated, or know anything about
an organization called "Discovered & Undiscovered Potters. They've been
around for 14 years and have three shows per year, all in the
Woodenville area.

Nice people? Well organized? Good turn out? Best of the three shows?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Hi Brian,
I have shown my work at the Potters discovered undiscovered a few times.
They do have a very good turn out of people and a lot of potters selling
their work. There is a lot of competition too with so many potters in one
place.
The show is not juried and is based on first come first serve basis. The
most popular shows are in Oct and Nov close to the holidays. But make sure
you send in your applications right now to garantee a spot.
Take care

I've been selling in the Undiscovered/Discovered
Pottery Sales
for about 8 years. I'll answer your questions as they
are laid out.

Ken and Patsy are wonderful people.

These sales are very well organised.

Excellent turn out. They have established a very wide
mailing list.

Which one is better? That is by far the toughest
question. Some
potters do better at sale A but might not do so hot at
sale B. You'll
need to test the waters yourself.

Hope this helps.
