nceca/portland show

i proposed a show for nceca that would be called:

`25 potters that actually sell pots`
it was a list of `who's who` in pottery.
david hendley, tony clennell, richard aerni, dannon rhudi
etc...etc...robin hopper, nils, karen T..marta..etc. etc.

it was turned down...`sorry, we just don't have room for a show
like that`. (you know, pots.)

i even had a gallery owner that wanted the show. (big one in the pearl
district.)
we would have let people take the pots that sell with them.
it was proposed as an actual sale of pottery.
but, not to be. can't have commerce going on with ceramics.
(and, i did not in honesty work the proposal that hard...)
just wrote them on the form...did not send resume` and slides.
but, who would not know that list of potters?)

so:
i am going to be doing a small scale show at nceca/portland
in a friends gallery. my pots, for sale, take them with you.
he was not contacted to have a show during nceca...i quess
he was not big enough. so.
i will have 6 paintings, about 50 pots.
makes me smile. he is a former student, he called me and
said...`please, will you do a show with us?` sure.

Certainly one would not have to be a "sanctioned" "officially endorsed" activity to be done at the same time as NCECA......
In fact, I think a certain amount of stuff happeing that isn't "official" is healthy for the ceramics community. One might have to be prepared to NOT be on the offical tour, etc. That happened to Tom Coleman's studio in Las Vegas, but it was one of the best shows...

Don't forget a case or three of books and a pen
for a book signing and "reading" during the opening.

I bet you would have a line out the door.
