DAC hosts Japanese ceramics exhibit
Thursday, January 12, 2006
The Dublin Arts Council Gallery is presenting the contemporary Japanese
ceramics work of Masayuki Miyajima through March 11.
Masayuki Miyajima's study of -- and experience with -- pottery is deeply
tied to the Mingei tradition of combining functionality and simplicity
with traditional forms and techniques. These traditional techniques
include using the local clays and glazes in his studio, just outside the
town of Mashiko.
There will be an opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14,
with catering provided by Historic Dublin-based Eloquence by Annmarie.
The exhibit is being sponsored by Neace-Lukens and Honda.
There will be four opportunities to meet the artist: from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. Jan. 14 and 21 and from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 15 and 22.
The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

"We can make our minds so like stil water
that beings gather about us that they may see,
it may be, their own images,
and so live for a moment with a clearer,
perhaps even with a fiercer life because of our quiet."
-- W.B. Yeats
