YHi.
I accidentally erased the original message but I think I am addressing the right problem.

I had the same problem with the same ring and ignition system. I discovered (after much frustration!) that - in winter - I need to be patient, ignore my sore and cold finger, and hold the button MUCH longer than before. For me that worked. You can just try it...I went throught the whole song of "Yesterday", but also recited long poems out loud. Wonder what that does for unsuspecting visitors...me sitting in the cold in my studio shed, shouting poems as if I am on stage...

good luck..just another suggestion.

Marianne

Actually, the tip of the thermocouple was too far into the flame and the
Basso valve solenoid was not getting its signal to open. I have reattached
the thermocouple so that it is firmly in place and won't wiggle out of
position when I brush up against the lead from valve to thermocouple.Thank
you all for your thoughts on this problem.
