Clayworkers' Guild of Illinois - Clayart on tue 24 jan 06
Hi Everyone,
The Clayworkers' Guild of Illinois has asked me to submit a notice about our
upcoming hands-on/demo-workshop with New Zealand Artist Brian Gartside (in
conjunction with Great Lakes Clay & Supply and McHenry County College in
Crystal Lake, Illinois). Brian will be presenting at NCECA this year in
Portland, so he is also scheduling some workshops while here in the States
and we are fortunate to be one of those destinations.
It is a two-day event. Friday & Saturday March 24th & 25th, 2006 from 9am
CDT - 4pm CDT (both days) in the Pottery Rooms at McHenry County College in
Crystal Lake, IL. The cost is: $65.00 (USD) for both days for members, or
$100.00 (USD) for non-members--Lunch not included.
(Aside: annual membership in the Guild is $25.00 --memberships & renewals
can be done on-line as well--, so anyone who joins this year can pay their
annual dues and qualify to participate in this workshop for the member price
-- together that comes to $90.00 (USD) compared to the non-member price, or
a savings of $10.00 and membership too!).
Because there is a hands-on part to this workshop there is a limit of 30
participants total (as of this writing there are 18 spaces left) and
registration is open from now until midnight (CST) on March 1st, 2006 (The
early cut-off date is to allow all participants ample time to create the 20
"glaze-test boxes" they will need for the hands-on portion of the
workshop.). Registration to this event is on-line only at our web site (see
below). To learn more about this event, from our home page: scroll down and
click on the picture of Brian. To learn more about the Guild, to become a
member, or to register for this hands-on/demo-workshop, please see our web
site: http://www.clayworkersguild.com. All additional questions should be
directed to me either from the site, or at:

Hope to see some of you in March!
Sincerely,
Kimi

Hi Clayarters,
I recommend attending this workshop very highly. We had Brian at our
northern Michigan city of Petoskey last year. Our group had a great
time learning some new techniques in the approach to experimenting with
glazes using simple methods anyone can accomplish. He is a very
interesting presenter of his system as well in telling interesting
stories about his life as a potter.
