Check out the movie by Mizoguchi (I think, doing this from memory not a
good thing at my age)
Called Ugetsu Monogatari. The main character is a potter. He throws on
a wheel that is powered by a belt from a wheel that his wife turns as
Lee described. There are also scenes of loading and firing an
Noborigama which apper to be accurate. There is also a foot powered
hammer mill in one scene I think.........or was that in Seven
Samurai.......................
This was the movie that introduced Mizoguchi as a director to US
audiences. I have seen this movie in the larger video rental places.
