Earl --

Just remember Google, like a hammer, is a pretty dumb tool at heart.

Try using -- caffeine "blood lead" -- including the quotation marks.
it restricts the search too a very narrow sample, but it includes more
of what you want. IIRC, there are also some interesting studies about
calcium being leached from bones and the effects of caffeine on that.
(Not that you're necessarily interested in that, but it may be
relevant at least in part.)

When I Google "Caffeine Lead" all I get is references to
"caffeine leads (leeds) to ...".

Can you point me at some literature that documents this?

Thanks...

Frank,

The English language can be a bugga-bear sometimes.

"caffeine leads (leeds) to ...".

Can you point me at some literature that documents this?

earlk- A good deal of my info came from Gordon A. Barnes, Research
Chairman, Canadian Guild of Potters. I must warn you, however, that
this is not current since I have been practicing absence from caffeine for
more than 3 decades. You might research one of my original sources as being
a reprint from TACTLE, the magazine of the Canadian Guild, March, 1970.

Frank-

"Although drinking coffee prepared and served in lead-glazed ceramic ware is
common in Mexico, the association between coffee drinking and increased lead
is independent of the effect of use of lead-glazed ceramic ware on PbB, as
noted in the multiple regression analyses."

The article goes on to say that caffeine intake is associated with increased
calcium excretion in women, likely due to its effect on renal reabsorption,
and speculates on whether their bodies might compensate for this by
increased gut uptake of lead in these women, and further, about the
possibility of bone lead release in women with calcium imbalance.
