Ivor and Olive Lewis on fri 10 feb 06
Dear John,
Somehow or other you seem to have gone off track with this thread.
I asked for assistance in getting recipes that would comply with the =
Seger Formula for a Copper Silicate Frit. The recipes you suggested did =
not contain any Copper, either as Cu2O, CuO or Malachite
The Seger Formula was 1CuO:1CaO:4SiO2.
I see combinations of Black Copper Oxide, Red Copper Oxide or Malachite =
with Whiting or Wollastonite and Ground Quartz or Ground Flint as having =
potential with melting or fluid phase sintering encouraged with a small =
proportion, say 5 to 10% of Anhydrous Sodium Carbonate. Although Borax =
could be used I would like to avoid that chemical in this instance.
Given those restrictions, do you wish to continue ?
As I suggested in an interim post, I have a recipe with a little mental =
arithmetic. Now for a Cool Day ! ! !
Best regards,
Ivor
