So we just moved into our new house that has a great
basement!!! so now I have the joy of having a studio
again in my house but first we have to set up the
electrical stuff.

We live in nyc so we have 208 so I can have my smal
kiln rewired for 208 instead of 240
But I also have a new kiln that I was using in my last
sudio in an industrial place - it is 208 3 phase skutt

so the question is can I have the kiln reconfigured to
be single pahse or the house to be electrically
upgraded to 3 phase

does anyone know what it might cost to change service
from single to 3 phase - or change kiln to single
phase

thanks
William

It is feasible to convert the kiln from 3 phase to single phase. You may
have to upgrade the wires in your kiln to handle the higher amperage of
single phase. You could find out from Skutt.

In converting your kiln, you might not have to change the heating elements.
If your 3-phase system is Delta, which means there is no neutral, you can
probably use the same elements. If your system is Y, which means there is a
neutral, you will need new elements.
