Vince - re: staph infections. PLEASE BE CAREFUL and follow all doctor' instructions and advice. Not to scare you but my son- aged 40, "passed away" last year (drug addict - dirty needle) due to a staph infection in his upper arm. It was not easy - he was in the hospital for only three days - organs shut down, then on a a ventilater for a day and them I had to "pull the plug" as there was nothing left - no kidney function, no liver function, comotose and so on. . He is in a better place now I believe. In any case Vince, PLEASE BE CAREFULL - DON"T POO-POO THIS..... Sam in Daly City

I went in to Nashville today expecting to get a picc line (semi-permanent IV for self-administered intravenous antibiotics), but it turns out that the staph infection is a very old staph bacterial strain that's probably been in my body all my life, rather than the mutated treatment-resistant varieties people pick up during surgery, especially when artificial parts are installed. So this one can be treated with oral antibiotics. It's still very serious, requiring heavy duty antibiotics with a whole host of possible side effects, and I'll be monitored closely, especially for liver function.
