Surfing with Helen Bates - February 19 2006 - Canada, UK, Germany,
Switzerland, USA (Gather Around This Pot) (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
(According to the information here, the earliest ceramics in Canada
were made in the northern Yukon more than 3,500 years ago, and were
made by Inuit potters. Pottery found in more southerly areas of Canada
were developed in a separate tradition from the Siberian-inspired ware
of the northern people.) (Take the tour and click on the map links to
view pots.)

Wood and Caldwell (Burslem, Staffordshire, England)
(Collection of Staffordshire figures, busts, and other pottery by the
company Wood and Caldwell)

Peter Thumm (Germany)
(A consummate artist making functional tableware and slip-decorated
geometric sculpture and more. His tableware is decorated with numerous
complimentary riffs, rather like jazz variations on a standard theme)

Magy Reist (Switzerland)
(High fired crystalline-glazed ceramics in porcelain and stoneware)
(Reist's control of the interrelationship of her glazes and forms is
quite amazing.)

Subject: Marianne Cordyack (Spiral Ridge Pottery) (Reston, VA, USA)
(Salt-fired stoneware and porcelain) (Good-looking website, but may
load slowly) (Figural work and vessels, thrown and altered with
additions, assembly, and Slip decoration.)
