filter question for spray booth

I am making my own spray booth and have done a lot of research but have not been able to find much info on filter type. I read somewhere in the archives that someone is using a styrofoam filter. What does that mean? Where can I buy one? Are they washable? Is a blue Home Depot furnace filter really sufficient in protecting the fan and environment (outside)? Seems like the weave is too loose. What kinds of filters are Clayarters using?

Eventually I would like to make a wet burlap filter, as mentioned in Bill Campbell's Ceramics Monthly article, but for now I just want to go buy something that works.

Thanks!

Hi Amy,
I very recently completed my spray booth and I am using the blue home
depot filters. I had consulted Sugar Creek and asked them what filters
they recommend and they pointed to these blue filters and not the zig zag
folded kind. Since my spray booth was very similar to their I went with
their recommendation.
I have to admit that I have used my spray booth only twice now. After an
hour or so of use I did see some dry glaze powder on the blades of the
980cfm squirrel cage blower that I installed. A quick wipe with a damp
towel cleaned it right up.
If your filter would be very dense I imagine the suction would reduce and
you wouldn't want that either.
My 2cents.
