pit fired paper clay

In Rosette Gault's book Paper Clay she writes that paper clay should be
bisqued to at least 1000 c. I have some pieces that are made from cone 05
paper clay and sculpture/raku body cone 05 - 10 that are polished terra sigg
and I'd like to pit fire them. I'm worried they won't absorb the smoke
because of the high bisque temperature. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
